What activities should I avoid prior to and after treatment?
Prior to an aesthetics injection treatment, try and avoid painkillers (except Tyenol), fish oils, and Vitamin E which tend to thin the blood and may increase the chance of bruising. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to the treatment.
You can go on with your day as usual following any of the treatments, but we encourage you to not do any strenuous activity, hot tub or sauna for 24 hours post treatment. Avoid a facial procedure and a massage lying on your face for at least 10-14 days following neurotoxin injections. It is best not to plan a treatment prior to a big event like a wedding or family pictures. We recommend waiting at least 2-3 weeks after a procedure, in case of a bruising or swelling.
What is the Face First Standard Offer?
Consistency is the key to natural aging. To reward patients who prioritize their maintenance, we offer a Standard Offer rate of $9 per unit (compared to our $10 standard) for those who book their neurotoxin refresh every 3-4 months. It ensures you never have a ‘heavy’ or ‘worn-off’ look!

It depends on your skin and the type of pigment, which is why we offer two technologies that work in different ways. NOUVAderm, a 1927nm thulium fractional laser, resurfaces the skin to lift stubborn pigmentation, melasma and sun damage while refining texture. BBL HEROic uses advanced broadband light to target sun spots, redness and uneven tone with little to no downtime. Many clients benefit from one or a combination of both, and your skin consultation will show us which fits your goals.
How does NOUVAderm compare to BBL HEROic?
They are two different tools that work beautifully on their own or together. NOUVAderm is a fractional laser that creates tiny treatment zones to resurface the skin and stimulate collagen, which makes it a strong choice for texture, acne scars, fine lines and stubborn brown spots. BBL HEROic is an advanced broadband light that targets colour in the skin, such as redness, visible vessels and sun spots, with minimal downtime. We will recommend the right one, or a combination, at your consultation.
What is the downtime for NOUVAderm laser treatments?
Downtime is customizable based on the treatment tier. NOUVAderm Light (the “Weekend Glow”) typically results in 0–2 days of a “sandpaper” skin texture that is easily covered by makeup. More intensive treatments like NOUVAderm Max for deep wrinkles and scarring may require a few additional days of healing, but offer more noticeable resurfacing results.
Can laser skin resurfacing be used on the body?
Yes. At Face First Medical Aesthetics, we use NOUVAderm technology to treat sun damage on the hands and arms, as well as for advanced scar revision and skin tightening on the abdomen or legs.
